My next novel will be on the life another great lawman of the Wild West, Sam Steele of the North-West Mounted Police. The suggestion came from my father, who felt after writing the story of Wyatt Earp that I should write about Canada's own great lawman. Sam Steele was a larger-than-life figure, powerful in physical strength and fearless in the service of his duty. He never caved to violent hoodlums, raging mobs, wealthy elitists or to corrupt politicians. He stood by his principles till the end.
